Members of UCLA HRI hold Toy Drive for children in Tsaghkaber!
Tis' the season to give!
As its first projects since it founding in October 2014, members of the Hidden Road Initiative's new chapter at UCLA held a Toy Drive this Fall in order to give a little brightness to the children of Tsaghkaber. Supported by professors from the Armenian Studies Department at UCLA, the HRI team was able to collect hundreds of gifts, generously donated by UCLA students and staff. The toy drive was part of a continued initiative started by Hasmik Baghdasaryan in the Summer of 2014, in which a brand new kindergarten was opened in the village of Tsaghkaber.
Operation Reconstructing the Future's aim to aid and enrich the unprivileged children in Tsaghkaber inspired the UCLA chapter to continue its efforts. After hosting a Ponchik Fundraiser on campus to take care of shipping costs, the UCLA team gathered in a member's apartment to wrap the presents, enjoy each other's company and help a great cause. The children of the kindergarten have received their personalized presents just in time for the holiday season, and the efforts of the UCLA HRI team is seen in all of their faces.
