SUMMER CAMP 2014

Summer Camp in Armenia and Artsakh!

Week 1: Akhpradzor

​9 HRI volunteers spent 1 week in Akhpradzor to run a memorable and educational camp for the children of Akhpradzor. The camp also witnessed unprecedented events as the United States Ambassador in Armenia, John Heffern, as well as the Keghakrunik Governor, Marzbed, visited the village and promised school and road renovations.

Week 2: Shushi

HRI Volunteers spent the following week in Shushi, a small town in Artsakh, to participate in Varanda Choir's summer program. Classes included self-defense, English, dance, sports, and History. Varanda choir director, Zakar Keshishian, has been coming to this region from Lebanon every year since independence in 1994 to gather the children of Shushi and enrich their musical and cultural knowledge.

Week 3: Tsaghkaber

HRI Treasurer and former member, Hasmik Baghdasaryan, led a team of HRI members in the village of Tsaghkaber as part of the $ 10,000 grant she received from the Strauss foundation to open a renovate, furnish and open a new kindergarten. HRI volunteers participated in planning and realizing the project, in every aspect including painting, renovating, installing furniture, hiring employees and more.
