UCLA HRI Branch
Welcome to UCLA HRI!
Throughout the years, UCLA HRI has organized numerous programs, including funding scholarships for summer camp alumni, holding benefit concerts for school renovations, and running school supply drives such as Backpacks for Artsakh. During the 2020 Artsakh War, the branch raised nearly $40,000 for ArmeniaFund through donations and also coordinating an online arts concert. They then kicked off the 2021-2022 academic year with a moving performance by Arthur Khachents in one of our lecture halls. Here, our HRI chapter, as well as other interested members of the Los Angeles community, had the incredible opportunity to hear him perform live, as well as attend a Q&A session. That same year, the board assisted in a sweater fundraiser organized by Sose Hanneyan, an activist and friend of HRI, revolving around a special family from Berdzor. During summer camp 2021, HRI had the privilege of meeting a group of incredible kids from Artsakh that were staying in temporary housing in Tsaghkadzor as a part of Project Hope. During one of the art lessons, 6-year-old Gor painted the infamous "Tatik and Papik" monument, which Sose printed onto sweaters to raise funds for his family. In the wake of the 2023 Artsakh War, UCLA HRI mobilized with fundraisers and community gatherings to raise thousands of dollars for HRI's Artsakh Family Fund, while also uniting UCLA's Armenian community. Looking ahead, they are excited to work directly with HRI's scholars in initiating their Scholar Projects! Be sure to contact them to get involved with UCLA HRI's mission! |
