Siranush Avetisyan and Nane Arakelyan’s Community Service Project, entitled “Educational Bridges,” was a 3-day trip to Yerevan that took place from Thursday, April 24 to Saturday, April 26. Fourteen students aged 14-18 from Shvanidzor village came to Yerevan to visit various universities and professional job sites. Siranush and Nane aimed to inspire the students through exposure to universities, workplaces, and real-life examples of professional success. They designed the project to help students connect their education to future aspirations! The trip also held a special significance, aligning with Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. The group began their experience with a visit to Tsitsernakaberd, the Armenian Genocide Memorial, where they laid flowers and lit candles. The students from Shvanidzor are the first from their families to visit the Memorial on the day of Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.

The next morning, on April 25, the group got ready to explore and visit Yerevan’s educational sites and workplaces. Their first stop was the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, where the students took a tour of the university and saw the innovative projects the students had developed. They were introduced to technological advances and learned about the academic programs available at the university. Next, the group visited the Armenian State University of Economics. The students toured the university, heard from faculty members and students, and received an informative presentation on the school’s programs.
At the National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, students received a presentation from each faculty to learn in detail about each program offered by the university. They observed design and art classes, and even had the chance to see completed projects. The next visit was to the Mkhitar Heratsi Yerevan State Medical University, where they explored the university’s museum and learned about the history of medicine in Armenia. The tour gave them insight into the past and present of medical education. The final stop of the day was the Armenia Stock Exchange. This visit gave students a look into the professional world beyond university. They learned how the stock exchange functions, explored Armenia’s financial systems, and gained a deeper understanding of how the economy operates. On Saturday, the final day of the excursion, the group attended Career City Fest, a significant event that brings together some of Armenia’s top employers.
Students heard panel discussions and speaker sessions, and had the opportunity to connect with companies and organizations offering resources, guidance, and even job opportunities. They met with Domus, IDBank and IDram, Meknark.am, and Hzor NGO. We hope that these three days in Yerevan, connecting with their roots, universities, and future employers, allowed the students to think about their futures and the various pathways available. We are confident that they returned home with new motivation, perspectives, and bright goals for the future.
