Vrezh recognized that his home village of Shvanidzor, the southernmost village in Armenia, has a lot of beauty and interesting activities to offer visitors. However, the village lacked a means to attract and comfortably accommodate new guests. Meanwhile, many villagers were more than ready and willing to share their homes, meals, and local knowledge with newcomers. This realization inspired a business idea: to transform an existing space into a formal guest house that people could easily discover and book online. Vrezh, together with his wife Ani and their friend Zalina, worked diligently, driven by the hope that "if we build it, they will come."
And come they did! Shvanidzor’s first-ever guest house has hosted several visitors from Armenia and abroad within just a couple of months of opening. In addition to offering a comfortable place to stay while exploring the village, the guest house connects guests with local villagers for activities such as cooking classes, honey harvesting, carpet-making, guided tours, and gathering greens for “jingyalov bread.” It also creates meaningful employment opportunities and provides a modest economic boost to the village residents.
