Winter quarter may be coming to an end, but HRI is still going! This quarter, the HRI team has accomplished a great deal in a short amount of time. We had two successful fundraisers in our local community to initiate funding for our current Shoe Project. Our “poster-making” committee rallied together and created a beautiful poster to help promote our fundraisers and shine some light on our projects in Akhpradzor. Meanwhile in Akhpradzor... Our team members in Yerevan said that this winter has been the coldest winter Armenia has had in a while. No one is able to travel to or from Akhpradzor. The weather is affecting the village’s Internet access and furthering the delay of their computer classes. Their instructor, Njdeh, who remained in Akhpradzor due to the blocked the roads, has just arrived to Yerevan to take begin his courses. On a lighter note, our Shoe Project is growing strong! Check out our thermometer and see how we are three-fourths of the way to our goal. If you want to donate, please fill out your information online and mail your donation to Act for Armenia. Some of HRI’s team members are also part of UCSB’s “Yeraz” Armenian Dance Team and performed in a recent cultural show. Watch these ladies dance to the music of Armenian culture: Spring is in the air ladies & gentlemen! Fresh rain, sunshine all around, and the surprise of a cornucopia of flowers—but why wait for April’s showers, HRI has something blossoming too, so keep an eye out! In the mean time, let’s get in touch with our Armenian tradition from the sound of our heritage! Check out this amazing performance by Pedro Eustache, playing the duduk, with Samvel Yervinyan and Armen Movsessian on the violin:
