With the coat project being such a wonderful success, it’s time to connect again with our roots and cross the bridge to Akhpradzor. This week, HRI members designed a new project to help the children of Akhpradzor thrive. The main form of transportation for students is walking through Akhpradzor’s rural environment. The climate makes it difficult for the kids to walk the terrain, especially given the distance of some of their travels. Everyday they cross muddy roads, snowy mounds, or rocky paths, just to get to school. When we, the HRI team, asked ourselves what we could do to help, the answer was clear: bring shoes to the children. Given these circumstances, HRI strives to provide the children a better--and easier--way to commute within their community with the upcoming “Shoe Project.” To achieve our latest goal, HRI will be holding some local fundraisers: - WOODSTOCKS in I.V., Thursday, Feb. 9 from 5-9 p.m. - ELEPHANT BAR on Hollister, Thursday, Feb. 23 ALL DAY LONG! A percentage of the proceeds will be given to HRI to fund our "Shoe Project"! In addition to our upcoming fundraisers, come check us out Thursday, Feb. 16 from 8:30-11:30 outside THE HUB during the Middle Eastern Dance Party! HRI members will be right outside with information about our club, upcoming projects, and how you can get involved. Stop by and grab a flyer for Elephant Bar before you hit the dance floor! Keep a look out for our WOODSTOCKS FUNDRAISER flyers and make sure to grab one before heading to WOODSTOCKS this THURSDAY from 5-9 p.m.! HRI is committed to connecting the community of Akhpradzor to other communities in the world. Our small efforts toward a better future help bridge the dividing gaps in our global society. Check out some of our photos from this weeks meeting.
