by
Natush Makhsudyan from National Polytechnic

As a Henry Keledjian Service Program Scholar, Natush organized educational excursions for the 5th, 7th, and 9th-grade students of her local school. The goal of the project was twofold: first, to expose students to the beautiful and historically significant sites in the region of Syunik; second, to introduce the students to new fields of study in higher education such as geology, archaeology and history.
The students visited the Vahanavank Monestary, the Garegin Nzhdeh Memorial, the Kapan Shmavon Movsisyan History Museum, and the Geological Museum of Kapan.

As a result of the excursions, the students developed a better understanding and appreciation for the important role their region has played in the history of Armenia.
