Lala is an HRI Scholar from Makenis, Gegharkunik, Armenia. Motivated by her growing experience in healthcare and a strong commitment to the well-being of her community, Lala developed a project aimed at improving access to medical care in the villages of Akhpradzor and Makenis.
After conducting a needs assessment with local healthcare workers, the project focused on supplying village clinics with essential medications, medical instruments, and healthcare equipment to improve the quality and accessibility of first aid and basic treatment services.
The project was carried out in close collaboration with Akhpradzor nurse Haykanush Manukyan and Makenis nurse Sirarpi Baghdasaryan, who identified the clinics’ most urgent needs. Necessary medications and equipment were obtained through Ghazaryan Pharm at cost, with the support of pharmacy director Vardan Ghazaryan.
As part of the initiative, Lala also organized a practical first-aid training session designed to teach participants how to respond effectively in emergency situations and raise awareness about the importance of first aid within the community. The project was implemented with the support of students from Lick-Wilmerding High School in the United States, whose contributions helped make the initiative possible. Community members, youth, representatives of the Vardenis Municipality, and Vardenis community head Aharon Khachatryan attended the event, highlighting the importance of collaboration between local institutions and youth-led initiatives.
In previous years, Lala’s HRI projects focused on increasing exposure to the medical field through first-aid trainings and educational excursions to medical and scientific centers in Yerevan.
Lala is currently completing her final year of study at the Levon Sargsyan Medical College.
