Your donation directly equips a student with their books and makes it possible for us to have a program coordinator. It also helps provide Christmas gifts, reward top students, run letter projects, cover marketing and transportation, and take care of the essential administrative costs that make this program possible.
About the Program
HRI's online tutoring program reaches students from the border villages of Armenia who are excited to learn English! In weekly sessions between our students and English tutors from around the world, we foster a close relationship between mentors and students and continuously work to create a safe community for everyone in our program.
The curriculum currently used in the program is based on Cambridge-published books designed for students of different ages and proficiency levels. The materials cover all key English language components and include level assessments, progress checks, and unit tests. Teachers use the online versions of the books, while students are provided with physical copies.
Currently, our program boasts 145 students from 31 villages in Armenia and Artsakh, who are paired one-on-one with 105 volunteer teachers. This hands-on approach allows teachers to adequately address the students' skill level and ensure progression. Tutors close each session with a formative assessment and assign independent practice to promote long-term understanding. In these weekly classes, an undeniable relationship is established between our students and volunteers abroad as we collectively promote an English-learning opportunity in each village virtually.
