When brainstorming a community development project, I came to the conclusion that one of the biggest issues in some of our villages today is college admission for "At-Risk" Youth. Last year, with the Henry Keledjian Service fund, I mentored two young girls to decide on a vocation and continue their studies. Both of them graduated and started off working in the Akhpradzor Youth Center, as well as open their private businesses.
This year, the beneficiaries of my program were four high school students from Akhpradzor whose families were not allowing them to attend college. From meeting with the families to calling institutions, to mentoring them to choose a career and a major, I successfully helped two of my students to apply to college. I worked tirelessly with them to choose a profession and helped get their paperwork in order. I look forward to following up with them throughout the year.
