About the Akhpradzor Youth Center

The Akhpradzor Youth Center is a locally-led community service project serving students from Akhpradzor and the neighboring village of Makenis (Gegharkunik region). Established to address gaps in after school learning and youth programming, the center provides an important consistent space where students receive academic support, college counseling services, develop practical skills, and participate in structured activities outside the school day.

After regular school hours, students come for homework help, tutoring, workshops, and extracurricular classes, while local mentors coordinate programming and maintain a regular schedule. Over time, the center has become a reliable part of daily life for village youth, offering structure, supervision, and access to opportunities that would otherwise be limited in this village.

The Youth Center center began as the joint effort of two HRI Scholars: Tatul Abrahamyan and Ara-Geghecik Abrahamyan. It has since become a cornerstone of HRI's yearly programming and is the recipient of the HRI Scholar Alumni Grant. The Youth Center stands as a testament to HRI's mission to empower local leaders and to provide sustained support for our communities.
