During the 2024–2025 academic year, the Akhpradzor Youth Center continued to operate as an important resource for the village’s youth. Under the leadership of HRI alumnus Tatul Abrahamyan, the center maintained a consistent schedule offering academic support, tutoring, college application guidance, and extracurricular activities, including visual art and dance classes. Programming was designed to complement formal schooling while responding to the needs of students in Akhpradzor.
The center operated throughout the week, with designated days for math classes, Armenian classes, and other extracurricular activities. Throughout the year, the Youth Center was a regular destination for students after school.
In May 2025, HRI Scholars Tereza Sargysan from Akhpradzor and Anna Tumanyan from Vardablur carried out their
Scholar Service Project centered around the youth of their respective villages. Taking place in Lori region, the students of the Akhpradzor Youth Center had an unforgettable two days with their peers from Vardablur, exploring the region and forming new connections.
In June, representatives from the Red Cross in Armenia completed a month-long residency in Akhpradzor, holding workshops and classes for students and their parents at the Youth Center, with topics ranging from emotional wellbeing to education.
Also in June 2025, the Youth Center hosted a two day mini summer camp led by HRI English teacher Lara Slater. Upon returning to San Francisco in the fall, Lara founded HRI's newest chapter at Lick-Wilmerding High School. The chapter at LWHS is planning a service trip to Akhpradzor in the spring of 2026 to further support the Youth Center. The program brought together village youth for focused English instruction and group activities. The Akhpradzor Youth Center continues to serve as an important and flexible space for any and all educational initiatives for young students in Akhpradzor.
The Akhpradzor Youth Center was made possible through the HRI Scholar Alumni Grant, sponsored by Arpi Keledjian.
